The full force of Andreï Chevtchouk’s vocation as a conductor is felt in the symphonic and operatic repertoire.
His encounters with great artists, including Mstislav Rostropovitch for whom he was assistant conductor, have encouraged him to follow this path.
- Andreï Chevtchouk conducts the great symphonic works by Haydn, Mozart and Schubert, and also those by Borodin, Tschaikowsky, Dvorak, Prokofiev and Schostakovitch … Symphonies, orchestral suites, overtures and concertos are part of the repertoire of this polyvalent conductor, who also enjoys conducting contemporary music (Martin Matalon, Bernard Cavanna, Piotr Moss …)
- Andreï Chevtchouk is equally at ease conducting operatic works : Carmen, La Traviata, the Barber of Seville, Tosca, the Pearl Fishermen, Gluck’s Orpheus and Euridice …
His passion for the theatre has also lead him to conduct orchestras and singers from the world of operetta : La belle Hélène, Orpheus in the Underworld, le Chanteur de Mexico, Valses de Vienne, the Merry Widow, or Véronique… more than twenty works in which this conductor’s artistic talent for authentic theatre fulfills itself.
